MasterModel brings effortless jumping and pure performance right to your fingertips. After the success of HyperModel, Damien Girardin, in collaboration with Brainchild founder Ralf Groesel, created a kite for riders who want to jump as high as possible and enjoy endless glide. Just lock in, pull the bar, and get ready to be launched to the moon with the smoothest landings you’ve ever experienced.
Explosive Lift
MasterModel’s high-arc design delivers explosive lift. Just pull in the bar and reach new heights easier than ever, giving you more time to master new tricks.
Endless Hangtime
Thanks to its efficient canopy design, MasterModel delivers floaty hangtime with no advanced steering required. More time in the air makes mastering new tricks easier than ever.
High-end Stability
MasterModel is built for strong winds. The five-strut design, combined with PROWELD technology, creates a kite that holds its shape even in the roughest conditions.
Competition Performance
MasterModel is built for competition-level performance. It delivers maximum heights and fast, precise steering, exactly what it takes to reach the podium.
Unreal low-end
With its light-weight, MasterModel gets you going in the lightest breeze, while the design delivers instant forward drive.
Second Lift
For those looking to impress the crowds, MasterModel provides plenty of second lift for endless heliloops and the smoothest landings.
“I’ve designed high aspect ratio, five-strut prototypes over the years, but never achieved the turning speeds, lift, and hangtime I was looking for. Brainchild Technology makes such a lightweight, fast, and playful kite possible, allowing us to finally bring this project to life!”
Unique for Brainchild Production is the patented PROWELD technology. Instead of stitching the individual segments of the kite’s leading edge, Ralf Groesel developed a manufacturing technique that exclusively enables us to weld the individual segments together.
How a kite turns has always been a key focus for Damien when designing kites, and PROWELD allows for zero play between each Leading Edge segment. This means the entire LE acts as if it’s made out one one single piece – giving absolute perfect bending and rebound characteristics.
On top of the huge advantage in turning, responsiveness, and rider feedback, PROWELD requires a lot less material than traditional kite constructions, making Reedin kites produced at Brainchild, the lightest kites on the market, without the need for extremely expensive materials.
The stiff Hardflyte is used in the center for the most lift, and to achieve the highest angle of attack. Our proven Triple Ripstop in the wing-tip provides a little more softness for the fastest turns.
Using digital print technology cancels the need for solvants during production and reduces the need for water by 5 times
The PROWELD technique is used to connect all Leading Edge segments. Drastically reducing weight and creating a seamless connection for the most homogenous twist characteristics over the entire LE.
Help reduce drag on the outer side of the turn when steering or looping the kite.
Made from a polyester ripstop with mylar film, these lightweight struts give a perfect flex pattern.

"Wow, this kite makes gravity optional, this thing is built to boost, made to send, and designed for kiters that live for the hang time. The first time I flew MasterModel I felt like I caught the magic gust and landed smiling, now it’s your turn!"
"They’ve created a true rocket for everyone! I love the vertical boost and hangtime of MasterModel, it makes you fly! What’s most impressive is how easy it is to handle and steer. The quick catch after a loop is just perfect. If you want to boost high and fly forever, jump on MasterModel and become the rockstar of your homespot!"
"I could directly feel the Reedin DNA. The jumping is really easy, eventhough my takeoffs weren't perfect, the kite was always on the side of the wind window."
"This kite will suit 90% of the riders. The landings are just very soft. Like if you're jumping 5 feet or 50 feet, you're coming down softly."

About MASTERMODEL
What was the goal when starting the Mastermodel project?
Damien: The idea came from sitting in Cape Town and watching all the pros and wannabe pros, sending amazing jumps with crazy kiteloop boards off and whatnot. Making me feel like normal kiters would also like to jump high, but it needed to be easy and not technical for them. And to be honest, even if I’m a pretty good kiter myself, I also really wanted a kite that allows me to jump as high as possible, stay in the air as long as possible, and land softly without having to really think too much about how I steer my kite!
Who is MasterModel for?
Ralf: MasterModel is a dedicated big-air jumping machine with a lot of sheet-and-go power and great vertical lift. It’s made for riders who want to boost high and perform controlled single loops. If that’s you, MasterModel is your kite.
How did you save weight on the kite?
Damien: Brainchild technology and material are producing the lightest kites on the market. When we started the design with Ralf, we wanted to make sure we would make the lightest 5-strut kite ever created. To reach this goal, we decided to minimize the number of segments on the kite; by doing so, we have fewer segment junctions, and in the end, we save weight. I am then very proud to say that MasterModel is the lightest 5-strut kite on the market, which translates into a kite that will require less wind to fly, will waste less energy to stay in the air, and will provide more power per sqm for the rider. Making it the most efficient 5-strut kite ever made.
Why does MasterModel jump so high and effortlessly?
Ralf: MasterModel is a high-aspect-ratio, five-strut kite with reduced LE and canopy segments, pushing the limits of weight reduction. This low weight makes for a faster kite and is critical for timing your takeoff perfectly. The high aspect ratio and flatter arc provide a lot of second lift in heliloops when coming down from big jumps. MasterModel automatically flies a little wider around your head and creates a very nice second lift, making progression extremely easy. This rounded loop shape also explains why MasterModel is designed specifically for single loops rather than double loops like the smaller HyperModel sizes. It’s built for easy, accessible power delivery with a true sheet-and-go feel. You send the kite straight up, sheet in the bar and get very good vertical lift with amazing hangtime. In combination with the naturally wider heliloops, you get a lot of second lift.
You’ve been making three-strut kites for years, why launch a five-strut now?
Damien: One thing is that some of our competitors have been simplifying the message by basically saying that a 5-strut kite jumps high, but it is not that simple. If you take any 3-strut design and simply add two struts, it will not jump any higher; however, it will be a bit heavier, it will also be a bit stiffer, which will translate into a slightly slower turning kite. And really, to make a kite jumper high and have more hangtime, a lot of parameters have to come into place, like profile, aspect ratio, arc shape, and of course, overall bridles balancing. Now, having the privilege of manufacturing kites at Brainchild, we have the lightest and fastest turning kites on the market. So suddenly, adding a little weight and slowing the kite down a bit is really not a problem. So really, to make MasterModel jump and glide so exceptionally, we did design a pretty high aspect ratio, which means we have a short chord and a long wingspan, while also designing a flatter arc compared to our other kites. This shape then requires a fifth strut in order to hold the structure of the kite properly.
How does the low V influence the kite?
Ralf: The Low V is part of the Reedin DNA when it comes to flight characteristics. It’s an essential element for both the overall performance and turning behaviour of the kite. The Low V ensures that riders always have a very direct connection to the back lines, which makes the kite feel extremely responsive.
